Susan's Double Irish Chain quilt

My friend Susan's daughter is getting married next month and about a year ago she asked me for a pattern suggestion other than a Double Wedding Ring quilt so I suggested a Double Irish Chain and she loved it.  Here's her finished quilt.
She did a great job piecing it and quilting it was a breeze. Susan chose the very appropriate Hubby Love panto for this.
Since she knows that this quilt will be taken on a lot of picnics and other such adventures, Susan used mostly darker fabrics.  I think her fabric combo looks great.
A solid Blue was her choice for the backing with So Fine 473 Brooke thread.
Susan also wanted the quilting to show up on the front without overwhelming the piecing so Glide Cool Gray was her thread choice.
The rush is on for Susan to get the binding complete before the wedding but I know her well so I'm sure it will be done in time.
Thank you Susan for trusting me to quilt this precious gift and I know your daughter and her new hubby will cherish it always.

Beautiful. The random light blue squares give it movement and interest. And the quilting sets it all off perfectly. Many happy family moments ahead for sure.

Love that the quilt is opposite of a standard Irish Chain quilt with the dark B/G and light coloured chain!
