What happens when you don't get near your computer to do some blog reading for a couple of days?
You check back in with your Google Reader (or other reader site) and you have literally hundreds of unread blog posts to catch up on!
That is what happened to me again this week.
So what do I do? Why start working my way through them of course.
But that is where exactly how I do this that differs...depending on my mood at that moment.
Sometimes I start at the top of the list.
Sometimes I start at the bottom of the list.
There are days where the numbers geek in me takes over and I start with those with just one unread post, then proceed on to those with 2 posts, and then those with 3 posts...you get the idea.
Other times I start with those with the most posts and work my way down numerically.
Then there are those days when all of the "order" is thrown out the window and I just scroll through the list and see what blog name catches my attention next.
I can get a bit obsessive with this. If I am working in a numerical order, no matter which one that is, I refuse to allow myself to deviate from that course of action until I am all caught up. Weird? I know but I sometimes I just can't help myself.
So today's question is.....how do you read? How is your followed blog list orientated? This curious mind would like to know.

I also use Google Reader and group my feeds into folders, like Quilting, Crafting, Cooking, Frugal Finds, etc. When I get behind a few days, I usually 'mark as read' the Frugal folder - since most of the deals are already gone. Then I attack a folder at a time, usually saving the best for last - the quilting feeds! It's my reward for getting through everything else ;)
I didn't know Google Reader could be grouped like this!! I am going to check into it - great idea!!
II'm glad I'm not the only one! When this happens I'll scroll through the list while I have time. When I come back, I'll select each different blog I follow in reverse order to keep trying to get caught up. Sometimes it'll take days and there may be a post I'll miss here and there, but for the most part, it'll finish my catchup. ;) Jane
I use google reader. I have folders for various categories. Most times I go by folders, then by oldest. If I deviate it is generally to go by number of posts, starting with the blog with the highest number.I have never been able to bring myself to mark all as read.
As I was reading your post, I started to smile. And as I kept reading, the smile got bigger and bigger until I actually laughed out loud. I'm exactly the same except once. I must have been in such a dark mood that day, I marked ALL as read, got rid of them all and started fresh.
I usually scroll down to the blogs that I like the most and read them first. Next I start with the ones with the most posts and work my way back to the ones with the least posts. I have on 3 occasions marked all as read because there were in excess of 500 unread posts. I'd have read them but it would have taken me all day and I actually wanted to do something besides sit in front of the computer all day. :D
I use Google Reader...and try to keep up daily. I star the posts I want to come back and read for more details!
O M G I could have literally, word for word, written this exact post lol. :) That made me smile!

I often get behind on my blog reading during the week when I'm working. I sometimes just go to my favourite blogs, read those posts and "read all" the rest. Sometimes I read back for the last couple of days and then "read all" the rest. Sometimes I do the numbers thing - start with blogs that have one post, then two posts etc. Sometimes I just scroll through the posts and stop to read ones that look interesting. Now of these are that satisfactory and I often miss important things on different blogs, but there are only so many minutes in my life - sadly....
blogger dashboard :-) did you see and comment on my giveaway? I can't remember and VOTE on a quilt along?
I had to laugh at this post. I do a lot of the same things you do in Reader!
