Lucy came home today. I got the call first thing this morning and headed right out to pick her up.
I can't wait to plug her in and check her out. After almost 5 months now since I purchased her, I finally feel like I have the opportunity to really put her through her paces.
So what did her problems turn out to be? She did have a nasty bad spot on her bobbin case that was really difficult to see with the naked eye and her tension was off, probably from whatever happened when the bobbin case problem occurred. She was cleaned, oiled, tested and given a clean bill of health.
How much did it cost me? Nada. Zilch. Zero. It was covered under warranty. Surprise, surprise...I was right about that all along.
I was really nervous about dealing with the owner again. Getting into a fight with her about the warranty wasn't a pleasant thing to look forward to. I actually took a friend along, partially for company on the drive and partially just in case I blew my top. But this time the owner was sweet as pie. Never said a peep about the warranty, never said she was wrong for insisting the machine wouldn't be covered and never bothered to apologize for being so nasty in the first place.
Well she'll never have to worry about Lucy's warranty status again. She'll never again see her and any future servicing will be done elsewhere. Adios nasty shop owner.

YOU GO GIRL!!! Funny how businesses forget that where we spend our money and our time is OUR choice.
Welcome home Lucy! I agree with Annie, they do seem to forget...Just a few days ago I stopped at LQS and went straight to sale section (hoping to find a bit from an older line I knew they had carried). I fully intended to do a little therapy shopping. The gal walked over and said, "Can I help you?" I said, "Oh, I am fine, just looking for an older line, but thanks." and she said, "Well, when you are ready for the quality fabrics they are over there (pointing)" EXcuse me? So, when you clearance out the Moda it is no longer quality? I continued looking. She walks back over and says, "Are you ready to put value into your quilts?" This is not the first time they have been snotty, but it is the last, LOL,they also think my long arm is inferior because I didn't order it from them. NO more :-)
So glad you got your machine back! The place where I bought my machine is always really busy but they are nice so I'm willing to wait for things when I go in there, I just make sure I am not in a hurry.
I should probably schedule a cleaning and maint. on my machine since I bought the extended contract and I get it done free for 3 years. I just wish I didn't have to use the old (small, annoying) machine while it's getting done. :D
Hi Michele, so glad your machine is back and hopefully now fully working! I really feel for you when the shop owner was nasty! Do you remember when "the customer was always right"? Now it seems to be the customer "is a person who is awful but we have to deal with them because they give us money but really we could do without them"!!!!! It seems to be happening more and more and it is so nice when you get someone who really wants to help in a store!!! Happy sewing. Susie x
